Last week, while taking the dog out for his last visit to the backyard before bedtime, I noticed the moon. It was a color I've not seen in a long time. I was very taken with it, as I have always been fond of the moon.
I grabbed my camera, which has very little zooming ability, and got a few shots while standing on my tiptoes on the doorstep, trying to avoid getting tree branches or phone and electrical wires in the photo.
The other day on the radio, I heard someone refer to the moon as the "Strawberry Moon". I thought the name might refer to the unusual color, but, according to the Old Farmer's Almanac, the term derives from the Algonquin tribes - a signal that it is strawberry picking time.
I'm sure there are much better photos of the gorgeous orange June moon out there somewhere, but I share my impressions of the strawberry moon with you here.
